Thursday May 26

Sorry for not updating - exam period here in Australia so I have spent the majority of my time bunkered down studying... I have decided to take a break from taking medication for the next few weeks (until the exams are over) as I need as much focus that I can get. I figure if I can get straight HD's before taking meds I can get them again through hard work and dedication!

Will update soon

Nootropil (Piracetam) 800 mg - Day 14 + Adrafinil

9:30am: OK, so today is the official “two week” mark for when the effects of taking Piracetam are meant to be noticeable. In some of the blind tests that have been conducted, after a period of two weeks patients showed greater cognitive ability than before. However... today is not my official "two week" day on Piracetam because I have decided to take some Adrafinil (and NOT mix nooptropic drugs). So as I write my stomach is metabolising approximately 150mg of the drug (Adrafinil) or (Olmifon – whatever you want to call it). The question everyone wants to know is do these brain enhancing drugs work?? The answer put simply is yes.  Whilst the effects of Piracetam take longer to surface, Adrafinil effects can be noticed within 40mins -60mins after taking the drug. My first experience with Adrafinil thanks to (you know your name) was great. I noticed that when writing an essay I analysed each individual words place within the sentence structure and found that I could concentrate the entire time. I even managed to watch the entire Bloomberg financial training series  – weird experience and hard to describe.

Don’t go thinking this is like knocking back a can of Redbull because it’s not – to get the full effect of Piracetam or Adrafinil you actually need to be applying yourself within a study regime and as your heart rate remains the same (one of the beautiful things about this drug) you won’t feel the effects unless you are sitting down studying. I guess it’s very much like taking steroids and not going to the gym, the drug would be useless and you’d soon find yourself busting out in spots for no good reason at all!

Update soon.

Nootropil (Piracetam) 800 mg - Day 12 + Adrafinil

Well it has almost been a week since my last post and I must apologise as I have been flat out! – The Piracetam is still going well, the metallic taste has now gone and so has the weirdness associated with taking it (by this I refer to being a little spaced out – not really with it)

The positive note: I have noticed that I am able to concentrate for much longer at times and am a little more creative – again not sure how much can be attributed to the Piracetam but you never know!
What I have noticed however is I readily engage people more than I have previously, so if you are taking it and have also found that you have been talking to complete strangers I’d love to hear from you as I’m thinking I’m going crazy!

New addition to my daily supplements – Today I will trying Adrafinil for the first time which apparently works a charm!

Adrafinil description:
Adrafinil / Olmifon improves brain chemical processes to boost alertness without affecting normal sleep patterns Adrafinil is part of a new class of drug called ‘eugeroics’, which means ‘good arousal’. Designed to promote vigilance and alertness, it is a stimulant and anti-depressant that helps to sharpen mental focus by enhancing the chemical processes within the brain without affecting heart rate or pressure.

Side effects:
Adrafinil may occasionally cause headaches, stomach pains and skin irritations, and in certain cases, inner tension.I will let you all know how it goes later on today – it’s week 10 at my university some time to get cracking – will let you all know how it goes later on in the day.

Nootropil (Piracetam) 800 mg - Day 5

Well I'm now at Uni and am about to meet up for group work so I'll have to be brief. Feeling much better since lowering the dose of Piracetam to 1600mg per day. This may be the result of a lower dose, getting over my head cold, or supplementing the dose with Choline?  either way,  I ended up going for a 20min run yesterday afternoon and feel much better - I even decided to repeat this again at 6:00am this morning (Piracetam?? or just fed up with being lazy? hmmm)

9:03pm update: Still feeling much better, decided to take another Piracetam - more for shits and giggles really. Went for another run tonight - 10min followed by some weights ( all about practicing what you preach! ) now for some politics group work and bed.

Nootropil (Piracetam) 800 mg - Day 4 (Enough is Enough)

OK So have you ever had one of those mornings where you wake up and say to yourself "Enough is enough!"? - Well today I did. I have had enough of procrastinating, if I only spent a 1/4 of the time spent on Facebook or random websites on Investments or Business Finance I'd be all over the topics - Although I cannot control my actions in the past  - I can control the future.

I've also had enough of not exercising. You wouldn't believe the excuses I come up with to avoid exercise:
  1. I'm getting over a cold so I don't think I should just yet
  2. I'm taking experimental brain drugs - not sure what exercise can do to the process
  3. I don't really have the time - have sooo much University work to do
  4. Blah Blah Blah

So over it - the moral of the story is whether it be study, exercising or simply getting off your ass to clean the house - yard whatever - the secret is incremental changes. For example I used to run for 30mins at around 11km per hr - so now  I feel like a failure when I jump on the treadmill and only run 20mins at say 10kms an hour - so what do i do about it? Decide not to run (now how pathetic does that sound?) or the fact that I used to be able to bench 110kgs in easy reps of 10 - so what do I do? Decide not to do weights as there is no way on this earth I could lift near that again - moral to the story - I'm harnessing a losers mentality and my health is suffering for it, so what to do about it? adopt an incremental approach and simply..  get on with it and leave excuses at the door.
Back to being a lab rat: well yesterday I lowered my dose to 1600mg of Piracetam and I feel much better, less spaced out and more with it. To be honest yesterday was the first day that I thought about getting off Nootropil it as I didn't feel too good mentally - by this I mean I was actually forgetting small things and bumping into shit all day... whether it was related or not I have no idea - I'll let you all know by the end of today if there has been any changes.

Well I'm off to start my "Enough is Enough" Day - If you have also had enough then perhaps you too should make some positive changes, again the past doesn't equal the future and the time to take action is now. Not up for it? then watch the video below for some fuel

4:18pm update: Feeling a lot better than yesterday - again only taking 1600mg of Piracetam a day along with a few 100mg of Choline and other essential vitamins.
